Become a Community Research Champion!
The Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) is a team of Leicestershire County Council staff, academics and community members who work together to understand what shapes our health (what is around us, who is around us and what are our opportunities).
Do you want to make a difference in your community?
We are looking for local people to join us as Community Research Champions, helping us understand and improve the health and wellbeing of communities and groups whose voices are not always heard.
What will you do?
As a Community Research Champion, you will:
• Listen & Share – talk to people in your community about their experiences and the issues they face.
• Explore local challenges – help us identify the wider factors that affect health, such as housing, work, money, transport, and access to services.
• Be a voice for your community – make sure the views of under-represented groups are heard.
• Work together – collaborate with the Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) team.
Who are we looking for?
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
✅ Passionate about your community
✅ Connected with under-served groups or communities whose voices are not always heard
✅ Friendly, approachable, and willing to listen
✅ Keen to make positive change
What support will you get?
• Training and guidance to feel confident in your role
• Ongoing support from our team
• Opportunities to learn new skills and connect with others
• Reimbursement for your time and expenses
Why join?
By becoming a Community Research Champion, you’ll help shape research that truly reflects the needs of our communities. Your voice will make a difference in tackling local issues and improving health for everyone.
