Incredible Edible Loughborough

Overview:

Incredible Edible: teaching people to grow food and helping with the climate and nature emergencies.

We are part of the Incredible Edible network, which has 170 groups in the UK. Incredible Edible groups grow food on neglected spaces in urban settings, open to the public. We now have six gardens and an allotment in Loughborough growing vegetables throughout the year. Local people can volunteer to work with us and learn to grow food as they go along. Any passersby can pick the food we grow and we never charge money for the food or to join us. We have about 35 volunteers and many supporters who donate seeds and seedlings. This is a community gardening project for improving mental and physical wellbeing. We also show how local food growing can reduce the carbon footprint of our food. We make our town’s green spaces more rich in insects and wildlife. Anyone can join us, no previous experience of gardening is needed.
