At Schoolreaders, our mission is to ensure that every child – whatever their background – leaves primary school able to read well, giving them the best possible start in secondary education and beyond.
Founded in 2013, Schoolreaders matches volunteers with local primary schools to provide one-to-one reading support. Just ten minutes a week with one of our volunteers can make a real difference to a child’s reading fluency, comprehension and confidence. It also offers children valuable time with a friendly adult who isn’t a teacher or parent, helping to build social skills and self-esteem. Last year, our wonderful volunteers delivered an incredible 1 million reading sessions!
