The Bylines Network is a nonprofit publisher which runs ten co-creational media publications across different parts of the UK. Central Bylines is the one covering Leicestershire. We work with volunteers to fill gaps in the news, both geographical and thematic. By helping people to become better informed, we aim to bring communities together and strengthen local democracy. We want to give ordinary people a voice – especially those whose voices are under-represented in traditional journalism. In the process, we work to improve people’s writing skills and help them understand more about how journalism works. We also take on editors, proofreaders, photographers and cartoonists.
