About this Opportunity

Overview:

To provide practical administrative and organisational support to Stamford & Rutland Cancer Support, helping the group run smoothly and reducing the workload on the group’s Chair. The role would suit someone who is organised, reliable and happy to work behind the scenes. You do not need to have experience of cancer support work.

Full Details:

Organisation – keep a simple list of upcoming events and deadlines. Help with practical arrangements for events, including contacting venues and speakers. Remind volunteers about agreed tasks and dates. Keep a record of committee members and volunteers attendance of Safeguarding courses as required.

Communication – Help prepare and send emails to members and volunteers in conjunction with the Chair. Keep the group’s contact lists up to date.
Help distribute newsletters and other information to outside organisations.

Administration – Keep simple records of meetings, events and activities including the number of attendees. Maintain folders and documents in Google Drive so that information can be easily found. Help the Secretary prepare agendas and notes for meetings. Keep track of forms, leaflets and other resources in conjunction with our Publicity Team.

Events and promotion – Help keep a list of local organisations and contacts for publicity and signposting. Assist with practical arrangements before and after our regular cancer support events and help with fundraising events on the day.

What the role does NOT involve – The volunteer would NOT be expected to:

Provide counselling or medical advice.
Make decisions about the group’s direction or finances.
Be available all the time, typically 2 – 4 hrs per week

When and Where:

The work could be done partly from home and partly at group meetings or events in and around Stamford and Rutland and is typically 2 – 4 hrs per week.
