We are a family support charity, working with families in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Home-Start’s expert staff and trained volunteers work alongside families just like yours to give non-judgmental, compassionate and confidential support. We work with families who have children under the age of 5 years old.
We believe that children need a happy, secure childhood and that parents and carers play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them achieve their full potential. Even the most dedicated parents can face challenges that prevent them doing all they want for their children. We know that a child’s earliest days are the most important for their future health, secure relationships, emotional well being and learning and development.
Our volunteers offer emotional support, practical help and positive parenting role modelling for parents. Volunteers can visit families in their own home, help at one of our family play groups or help in our creches. Anyone can be a volunteer, you don’t need any special qualifications, just kindness, time to spare once a week and experience of parenting.
Full training is given and you will be fully supported in your role by experienced staff.
