Alex’s Wish is a registered charity located in the East Midlands with a mission to eradicate Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Duchenne affects 1 in every 3,500 boys born, every single week two families in the UK will receive a diagnosis of Duchenne.
It’s a devastating aggressive fatal muscle wasting disease which can leave children paralysed by late teens/early twenties. Caused by a mutation on the X chromosome, boys are missing a vital protein called dystrophin and as a result every single muscle in their body is destroyed. It is 100% fatal and most boys are only expected to live until their mid-twenties due to heart and respiratory complications.
We are working tirelessly to fund scientific research and technology to make a difference to those with Duchenne.
