Live Cancer Free was founded in 2015 by a dedicated team of three doctors with PhD in cancer prevention from the University of Leicester. Our aim is to build awareness of healthy living among various communities, particularly in the highly deprived areas in Leicester where the level of awareness is very low and this results in higher levels of diseases & increased risks of cancer. We run physical activity sessions, healthy eating workshops, skills learning activities, and gathering events to tackle inequalities across communities and improve overall health and wellbeing. Equipping people, especially deprived and underserved people, with the knowledge necessary to make their own healthy choices, and decrease the risk of cancer is extremely important to us. During COVID-19, we distributed over 2,900 free food parcels to highly deprived areas of Leicester over the course of the pandemic. As recognition for our services, we have received a thank you letter from Lord Mike Kapur (Her Majesty the Queen’s representative in Leicester). We have also been featured twice on BBC Radio Leicester in the Making a Difference program for running 2 successful projects across Leicester. We have been operating in Leicester since 2015 and we have built a reputation as experts and trust within the community.
