VAR is about to open a Voluntary & Community Sector Centre (VCSC) on Oakham High Street and we’re looking for enthusiastic and compassionate volunteers to join our team to help deliver this service. If you have a morning or afternoon free in the week and would like to volunteer alongside like-minded volunteers to support our community with advice, a friendly word and a cuppa, please get in touch.
Voluntary Action Rutland (VAR) Voluntary & Community Sector Centre (VCSC) is being opened to support two key needs in our community. Firstly, as part of our wider support for Rutland’s voluntary & community sector, our Centre will offer a physical ‘shop’ where residents looking to volunteer can drop in to get advice around opportunities. Secondly, there is a need to help gently signpost members of our community who need some support to where that support can be found, whether it be at VAR, Rutland County Council, other charities or VCS groups.
For more than 45 years, Voluntary Action Rutland, VAR, have been providing rural transportation, and a wealth of additional services to Rutland in, including Social Lunches, Helping Hands Services, Young Volunteering, Emergency Funding, an annual Christmas Appeal and we support the wider voluntary & community sector in the county with support and signposting.
